- It's A Put On
-
- Gourmet! does graphically what MPW & Toolserver users can do textually:
- produce fat code resources, safe and unsafe as requested. Since I
- really don't like having to waste all that disk space on MPW or
- Toolserver, I felt the need for it. Many Mac people dislike the
- command-line nature of MPW. Me, I'm perversely attracted to it, but I'd
- rather have the power and flexibility of a good human interface any day.
-
- Freeware.
-
- Current limitations:
- Gourmet! currently requires twice the amount of memory as the finished
- fat resource will occupy while creating the resource. If this is really
- a problem, let me know and I'll see what I can do.
-
- Gourmet! was written with PowerPlant and CodeWarrior 5. This version is
- PowerMac native (not fat- what hypocrisy!). If there's any demand, I'll
- compile the 68k side. (I advise emailing me if you wish to register a
- demand.)
-
- And, for a bit of comic relief, attach your sight momentarily to the
- about box.

- Saturday Night's Alright - "Instructions"
-
- Simple enough. Drag a file onto Gourmet! in the Finder. You need to
- tell Gourmet! the type and id of your 68k and your PPC code resources,
- and the type and id you wish for the fat resource. The little "!"
- indicators next to each resource's ID field change to "ok" if the
- resource exists. You also need a ProcInfo. ProcInfos specify the
- calling conventions for the Mixed Mode Manager, in order that it might
- setup the stack appropriately. The popup menu located to the left of
- the ProcInfo field contains commonly used ProcInfos.
-
- Important Notes:
-
- * The ProcInfo field expects information entered as a long integer. You
- can convert from hex if necessary by dropping into Macsbug and typing
- the hex number followed by a return. The number you want is the one
- preceded by a pound symbol ("#").
-
- In this beta version, you can only create safe fat resources, which
- are those that will run on both 68k Macs and PPC Macs. Trying to run
- an unsafe fat resource on a 68k Mac will cause a crash, so this
- probably isn't a huge deal.
-
- For more information on the creation and proper usage of ProcInfos,
- consult the folder CW5 Gold:CodeWarrior Examples ƒ:Code Resources
- Examples:-CW Code Resource Info: on the CW/5 Gold CD. See also Inside
- Macintosh: PowerPC System Software, Mixed Mode Manager chapter.

- Don't Look Back
-
- 1.0b1 - Released!
-
- 1.0b2 - LDEF, Control Panel procInfos added to the popup, which is now
- generated programmatically. About box fixes - I hadn't realized that
- PowerPlant plays strange games with window GrafPorts & regions. Other
- interface logic bugs fixed (some in PowerPlant). Now uses fat 3D
- Buttons CDEF instead of 68k. Resource generation remains unchanged &
- stable.
-
- 1.0b3 - Fixed freeze on drag/drop startup. I continue to assume that
- PowerPlant is on my wavelength. I should know better. Robustified
- resource management. Resource generation remains unchanged & stable.

- Never Spend Your Guitar Or Your Pen - Legalities
-
- This is a beta. It has not been tested fully in any way. I would be
- very sorry if it caused forest fires beginning with one careless
- exploding Mac, but I'm afraid I couldn't be held responsible. This
- software is provided AS IS, with no warranty express or implied. Use of
- this software indicates that not only do you agree to these conditions,
- you love them even more than you do your carpet. I am irresponsible for
- negative results obtained through the use of this software.
-
- This software may not be distributed on removable media without my
- explicit permission.
